Pictures were neat though and for someone who grew up in that area, many names and areas are still familiar.|About the Author|Margaret Coleman has lived in the area since 1968. This West Coast native was amazed at the history around Germantown and wrote this book to record the past and to honor the planners of Germantown today.

Germantown is a new city. Until 1980, Germantown was a quiet, rural community of farms and cows with a few new houses built for employees of the Atomic Energy Commission. When the Maryland-Nation Capital Park and Planning Commission adopted the area, everything changed.
