Although I am totally unable to speculate on the quality of the research behind this book, it is to me a very pleasant reading experience, to say the least. The book is very well-written (which cannot be said of the biographies of many "serious" musicians) and whilst the auth|From Publishers Weekly|Despite the catchpenny title, based on the fact that the German conductor (1886-1954) remained in his country throughout WW II and thereafter was accused of being a collaborator, this is a solid, judicious and thoroughly researched work.
